Labour day

Hey do you know that we are celebrating May Day today?

Oh! Then?

Today is labour’s day dear?

So what?

So what? Today is holiday.

So this is what you are excited about?

Of course! Are you not?

No! And no one should be…

Why?

Because people who were killed were not workers like us. They were labours the daily wagers. Daily wagers cannot afford holiday. They are supposed to show up at work venue regardless of labour’s day or trump or imran’s day.

Pakistani labour is the cheapest Labour in the world. I still remember a viral video of Pakistani worker in UAE who was caught drinking bears, and the mock cob were investigating him in front of camera.

That laborer was not fluent in any language neither in Urdu nor in Arabic. English is the language of elite. The cameraman was interested in humiliating labour. And he was crying and convincing police and was offering bribe to leave him alone.

It is OK to be in a media and celebrate anything at any time but it is difficult to face the nude face of reality in real life. Where ever you go you will listen to crowds of people chanting may day may day. Can anyone ask anyone, what is this may day really?

I still believe that the martyr were died in vain. The policy, rules and regulations are just there in big books of law and legislation. In ground realities only power is the real power. All others are just complimentary. Rule is for labour not for contractors, employers and constructors. They can afford law and lawyers. The labour’s can only starve, choose to quit or accept all humiliations imposed by employers in their own interests.

The only law and order is, you are fired. Go and see to others for job and work. Cheap labour is a norm these days. The new face of this kind of labours are freelancers. They have to choose unacceptable terms and conditions and in mean time the employers disappeared with their work and they have no clue what to do. Except complaining freelance website support and their support is always with employers.

The competition and rivalry of companies are just the fake games of money concentration. The labour have no meaningful benefits for their work or contributions.

What is the purpose of holiday on this day?

There is no holiday for laborers in any region globaly, locally and nationally.

I am still waiting for awarding any labour for his labor?

Is there any labour of the week, month or year?

Is there any authority interested in labour’s welfare?

Is there any mechanism for the betterment of labour and work place safety?

Daily labour’s are drowned in drainage, in mines and other work related disasters. What is government and ngos doing in this regard?

Is there any law regarding labour’s who are denied of their daily wages?

Is there any law regarding labour health?

Is there any law regarding labour’s education and their children education?

Is there any law regarding labours food, cloth and shelter?

Ramzan is near, what is governments stand about prices of foods and beverages?

Prices of petroleum based items is increasingly high these day I wonder what is the best way to deal with these aspects of labours?

I am not against celebrations but what will these celebrations contribute to labour’s and their laboring conditions?

Speaking up on these issues is considered treason in this country and in the world. I think mad crowd is powerful enough to execute anyone so, listen my soul! Be quite, be blind and Don’t hear the cry, tears, blood and sweat of the labour’s.

Today is labours day, happy labour’s day to labour’s!

Ah! Labour’s day is really a labour’s day?

Let us know when you are going to celebrate it again.
