Lebanon Accuses Israel of “Blatant Aggression” as Dahiyeh Hit with Over 20 Airstrikes in a Single Night

Beirut, June 6, 2025 — As Muslims in Lebanon prepared to celebrate Eid Al-Adha, a terrifying barrage of Israeli airstrikes turned night into fire in the heart of Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh. Over 20 missile strikes pounded densely populated residential neighborhoods in what officials described as the most violent Israeli assault since the 2024 ceasefire.

Residents were jolted awake not just by the thunder of explosions, but by four separate evacuation orders from the Israeli occupation army, sowing confusion and panic throughout Dahiyeh. The Al-Qaem area, American Neighborhood, Rweis, and Kafaat were all struck within a three-hour window.

Beirut Bleeds Again

Thursday’s attack marked the fourth Israeli strike on Dahiyeh since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, 2024, ending a 66-day Israeli military campaign in Lebanon. This latest wave of air raids, however, far surpassed earlier strikes in its scope and intensity.

The timing was deliberate. The attacks fell on the eve of Eid Al-Adha, a sacred occasion marked by prayer, reflection, and family. For many in Beirut, celebration was replaced with smoke, shattered glass, and cries for help.

Leaders Condemn “Flagrant Violation”

Lebanon’s top leadership issued a rare, unified condemnation. President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Speaker Nabih Berri all denounced the Israeli strikes as a “blatant violation of international law” and a direct assault on Lebanese sovereignty and stability.

“These attacks prove Israel’s rejection of stability and just peace,” President Aoun stated, calling it an act of geopolitical messaging directed at the United States.

PM Salam urged the international community to act immediately, holding Israel accountable for its continued attacks and pushing for full withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

Speaker Berri’s words were even more pointed:

“Israeli hostility targets not a sect or a region, but all of Lebanon, and all Arabs.”

A Dangerous Message

Observers see the attacks as part of Israel’s broader regional strategy to intimidate resistance forces and shift public discourse, using Lebanon as a pressure point. By striking in Dahiyeh, a stronghold of Hezbollah, Israel seems to be signaling both deterrence and defiance — even as civilian casualties continue to mount.

But the cost of such messaging is profound. Thousands of residents were forced to flee with no guarantee of safety. The psychological impact is immeasurable, especially for children who’ve already lived through previous wars.

Where Is the International Community?

Despite the clear escalation, no major Western government has issued a strong condemnation. Global silence — and selective concern — continues to embolden aggressive military campaigns across the region.

This silence isn’t just complicity; it’s a failure of humanity. As Lebanon bleeds, the world watches — quietly.
